The Brockville Winter Classic is kicking off its new BWC Gear Up! Equipment Exchange Program with a free community BBQ and giveaway on Saturday, June 14.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Canadian Tire in Brockville and features a live DJ, BBQ lunch and fun activities for all ages.
Organizers are asking the public to donate gently-used hockey gear to help make the sport more affordable for local families. Each item donated counts as one entry into a draw for two $100 Canadian Tire gift cards.
Equipment can be dropped off at Co-operators Insurance or Career Services in advance, or brought to the event.
Bonus ballots are also available by sharing the event online.
