Grenville OPP are encouraging residents in the Grenville area to register their home or business security cameras with the CamSafe program to help support police investigations.
Police say the voluntary registry allows officers to identify where video footage may be available when investigating incidents in the community. By signing up at camsafe.ca, residents can add their cameras to a database that may assist police if an event occurs nearby.
OPP say the initiative works like an electronic Neighbourhood Watch aimed at strengthening community safety and cooperation.
Authorities note that registering a camera does not give police live access to private video feeds. Instead, officers may contact camera owners if footage from a certain time or location could help an investigation.
