Event brings awareness to food insecurity in the city
Help fill a bowl at the Loaves & Fishes Empty Bowls event on April 5th
The Loaves & Fishes Empty Bowls fundraising event will take place at the Memorial Centre on Saturday, and spokesperson Mary Mansworth tells our Bruce Wylie, it's been a popular event over the years.
Guests can enjoy a delicious lunch featuring soup prepared by local chefs. Mansworth says the event can actually pose a happy challenge for participants.
For $40, attendees will receive a handcrafted bowl, referenced by Mary, from local artisans. Children under 12 pay only $5 (without a bowl), and those who would just like the soup can get it for just $15. And Mansworth says they're bringing in top notch entertainment.
It runs Saturday, April 5th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
Tickets are still avalable at SoctiaBank in Downtown Brockville.
The event's goal is to raise awareness of hunger in the community, with each empty bowl serving as a reminder of the importance of giving.
All funds raised will support Loaves & Fishes' mission to alleviate hunger.
