HFI Pyrotechnics Inc. announced a $120-million expansion Thursday in Edwardsburgh Cardinal, a move expected to create more jobs and increase production capacity.
The first phase of a five-year growth plan includes new buildings, roads, utilities, research programs and manufacturing equipment.
The company says it has already added 50 employees since November 2025 and expects to hire more as production increases.
The investment is supported by new contracts and will help strengthen the company’s manufacturing operations and Canada’s defence supply chain.

Edwardsburgh Cardinal Mayor Tory Deschamps said the township’s sale of about 2,500 acres from its land bank helped make the project possible.
Deschamps said discussions are continuing about using the remainder of the land bank to support future growth.
Federal, provincial and municipal officials joined company representatives for Thursday’s groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of the project.
