Highway 401 drivers warned of delays as crack sealing work begins this week

Motorists are being urged to use caution, obey posted signs and follow traffic control measures in the construction zone

Motorists travelling along Highway 401 in Eastern Ontario should prepare for delays as crack sealing work is set to begin this week.

Augusta Township says Upper Canada Road Services Inc. will carry out the work for the Ministry of Transportation on Highway 401 between Maitland and Prescott, in both directions.

The work is expected to begin tomorrow and continue for about 22 working days, with completion anticipated by Oct. 15. The schedule could change because of weather, site conditions and operational needs.

Drivers may encounter temporary lane closures, reduced speed limits, delays and changes to normal traffic patterns while crews are working. Traffic control measures will be in place, and access will remain available throughout the project.

Work will mainly take place overnight and during early morning and evening hours, depending on the direction of travel and day of the week.

Motorists are being urged to use caution, obey posted signs and follow traffic control measures in the construction zone.
