Brockville Rowing Club will celebrate the christening of a new eight-person racing shell on Saturday (May 30) at its boathouse on the St. Lawrence River in Brockville.
The event will also include an award presentation recognizing rowing excellence and community leadership. Athletes, alumni, community leaders and supporters are expected to attend the ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m.
Club officials say the event highlights the growing role the organization plays in youth development, recreation, wellness and competitive sport across Eastern Ontario.
Founded in 1894, the Brockville Rowing Club recently marked 130 years of rowing history. The club offers programs for all ages and skill levels, including youth camps, learn-to-row classes, high school rowing, recreational and masters programs, dryland training and competitive development.
