Mini-stick hockey tables will remain in the lobby of the North Grenville Municipal Centre, but the number of tables allowed will be limited.
The clarification comes after concerns were raised about the future of the popular tables, which have been a fixture at Kemptville hockey events for years.
Deputy Fire Chief, Randy Urslak says the tables are not being banned. Instead, officials are limiting their number to ensure people can safely exit the arena during an emergency and comply with provincial safety codes.
The tables, operated by Bob Harlow, have charged $2 for a mini stick and all-day play for about 15 years.
They have been used during events including World Girls Hockey weekend, Royals minor hockey activities, the U9 Eric Gutknecht Memorial Tournament and the U7 Adam Harlow Memorial Fun Day.
The Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund also supports local children who may otherwise face financial barriers to playing hockey.
