The chase went west toward Perth Street and then south to King Street
Brockville police arrested a 25-year-old man after a lengthy foot chase early Wednesday morning, October 22. Officers were investigating a commercial break and enter on King Street West when they spotted a man on George Street wearing a hoodie and a balaclava.
When officers approached and told him he was under arrest, the suspect ran. The chase went west toward Perth Street and then south to King Street. During the pursuit, the man threw away a backpack, which police later recovered. Inside, officers found fentanyl, cocaine, Canadian currency, and a folding knife.
Additional officers joined the chase using patrol vehicles, and the suspect was arrested near King Street West and Gilmour Street. Police say he resisted arrest and tried to break free while reaching into his waistband.
Investigators later determined he was not connected to the break and enter. The man remains in custody, facing drug trafficking, weapons, and obstruction charges.
