Beacon Bags, a local not-for-profit organization focused on preventing human trafficking and supporting survivors, is hosting a fundraising and awareness event Wednesday, March 11, at the Prescott Golf Club.
The group provides go bags filled with basic necessities for women and girls leaving situations of exploitation. Its long-term goal is to open a survivor-focused Wellness Center offering a safe place for rest, recovery and stability for those rebuilding their lives in the community.
The event will feature guest speaker Michelle, who will share information about trafficking and survivor support.
Nicole Kehoe, a volunteer heavily involved with Beacon Bags, spoke about Michelle and what she plans to discuss.
Kehoe said the organization is hoping for a strong turnout.
Tickets cost $40 per person. Those interested are asked to RSVP by emailing d.march@beaconbags.ca.
Organizers say the evening also helps build local partnerships and keep the conversation visible year-round.
