Flight cancellations have begun
On the heels of the news that Air Canada is beginning to cancel flights as it prepares for a possible flight attendants' strike tomorrow (Aug. 16), MP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand-Islands and Rideau Lakes, Michael Barrett says Air Canada needs to find a solution.
“We regret the impact a disruption will have,” said Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau.
Barrett adds that a change needs to be made to the Canadian Labour Code to ensure that flight attendants are paid for all of their work.
The MPP says this is extremely disruptive for people who have paid good money to travel.
The airline says passengers whose flights are cancelled will be contacted and offered full refunds. They are also working with other Canadian and international carriers to provide alternate travel options where possible.
