Barrett said the party’s main goal is to help Canadians get through current challenges and deliver positive results nationwide
Local Conservative MP Michael Barrett says his party continues to promote policies it believes can help Canadians navigate ongoing economic uncertainty.
One of those policies is the Canadian Sovereignty Act, introduced by Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre in August 2025. The proposal is aimed at strengthening Canada’s economic independence in response to foreign tariffs and what Conservatives describe as regulatory barriers.
The act would focus on accelerating major infrastructure and energy projects, protecting Canadian innovation and intellectual property, and reducing laws the party says block development.
Barrett said the legislation could help improve the standard of living across the country.
Barrett said affordability remains his top priority.
He said Conservatives are also focused on addressing other key issues.
Barrett said the party’s main goal is to help Canadians get through current challenges and deliver positive results nationwide.
