Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria says the change will improve travel times

It's official, Ontario has increased speed limits to 110 km/h on an additional 938 kilometres of provincial highways including sections of Highways 401 and 416 in eastern Ontario.

Local MPP Steve Clark says this is another step towards the eventual conversion to six and eight-lane highways in the future.

Here's Clark with more on the change.

Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria says the change will improve travel times. The province says highways selected for the increase have undergone technical reviews to ensure they can safely support higher speeds.
