Prescott Councillor passed away earlier this week
The town of Prescott is remembering Councillor Ruth Lockett, who passed away on March 31, 2025, surrounded by family. A dedicated community leader, she was involved in countless organizations, from the Prescott Food Bank to the Brockville Hospital Foundation.
Lockett made history as the first female chair of the Grenville Mutual Board and was a founding member of the Alzheimer Society of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville. She also served as a parade marshal, a food bank advocate, and a strong supporter of local charities.
Beyond her public service, she was known for her love of adventure, including scuba diving and jet skiing. She was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always cheering on her family.
Visitation will be held April 8-9 at the Irvine Memorial Chapel in Maitland, with a funeral service to follow. Donations in her memory can be made to local charities she passionately supported.
