Mallorytown farm festival offers families a chance to milk a cow for free

Everything except meals is free

A farm festival is bringing a free family day and a chance to milk a cow back to Mallorytown.

Front of Yonge Township will host its seventh AgriCulture – Beyond the Business of Farming Showcase on Oct. 4 at the Mallorytown Legion, celebrating farming communities across Leeds and Grenville.

The event starts with a Burnbrae Farms-sponsored breakfast at 8 a.m., available until noon, followed by barbecue at noon. Food and other vendors will be on site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with farming information booths.

Families can take part in pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatable games, pumpkin and face painting, and a colouring contest. Visitors can try milking Maple the Cow.

Musician Chris Hum, known as The Valley Shantyman, will perform in Legion garden from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Everything except meals is free. Mayor Roger Haley said the event is a way to thank farmers for their work.
