Justin Donovan Biscope of Smiths Falls remains in custody following his first hearing in Ontario Superior Court of Justice on Friday in connection with the death of 37-year-old Chelsea Swinwood.
Biscope faces charges of second-degree murder and indignity to a body. He is also facing two charges laid Aug. 30, including illegal possession of a firearm and breach of probation.
The Crown requested a non-communication order covering a long list of people police have contacted as part of the investigation.
The judge granted the order but excluded Biscope’s two children and their mother.
Biscope was not released from custody following Friday’s hearing. His next court appearance is scheduled for a bail hearing on Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. in courtroom 1.
The charges have not been proven in court.
The investigation into Swinwood’s death remains ongoing. Police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding her death.
