Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed that human remains found on a property northeast of Smiths Falls belong to Robert Lambert, a 75-year-old Montague Township resident who was reported missing in 2018.
The remains were discovered on July 20 on Kelly Jordan Road. A postmortem examination confirmed Lambert's identity after he was last seen in early July 2018.
Police had previously announced a $50,000 reward from the Government of Ontario for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Lambert's disappearance.
The Kelly Jordan Road property is also where officers found the remains of Robbie Thomson in October 2025 while executing a search warrant. Four people have since been charged in connection with Thomson's death.
The Lanark County OPP, supported by the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and several specialized units, continue to investigate. Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area.
