Michael Barrett, the MP for Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, has condemned a deadly attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
The attack, by a father and son duo left at least 15 people dead and dozens hurt. A Rabi and child are included in the death toll.
Writing on X, Barrett stated:
"Antisemitism leads to violence and tragedy when it’s excused or ignored.
I stand in full solidarity with Jewish people here and abroad.
I won’t look away, and I won’t stay silent.
No one should ever be targeted or live in fear because of their faith."
The attack occured during a Hanukkah event on Sunday. A good Samaritan grabbed a rifle from one of the shooters, likely saving lives in the process.
One of the shooters was killed, the other is in crtical condition.
