Adelaide Street between Dishaw Street and Walker Street remains closed for fire operations
Early Tuesday morning, the Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Department responded to a large structure fire on Adelaide Street. Firefighters arrived around 3:45 a.m. to find the building fully involved. The blaze was extinguished, preventing further damage.
Shortly afterward, a smaller fire broke out at the Cardinal Fire Station. Township firefighters quickly controlled it. During the incidents, one Township vehicle was stolen but has since been recovered.
The Township has asked the Ontario Fire Marshal to investigate the cause of both fires. The OPP and Fire Department remain on site as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have confirmed one person is in custody in connection with the incidents.
