Mystery blood trail in Brockville ends with unexpected police finding

Police have concluded the incident was not criminal in nature

A blood trail discovered near several apartment buildings in Brockville's north end prompted a police investigation that has now been determined to be non-criminal.

Brockville Police say officers responded at about 7 a.m. yesterday after blood was found near the entrances of multiple buildings on Kyle Court. Patrol officers launched an investigation to identify the source of the blood and confirm there was no risk to public safety.

Investigators followed the trail and determined the individual had travelled from the area of Stewart Boulevard and Central Avenue to Kyle Court.

After several hours, police learned the 37-year-old man from Athens had already been located by staff at a north end restaurant, where Emergency Medical Services had responded around 4 a.m. He was assessed and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have concluded the incident was not criminal in nature. Investigators believe the man was intoxicated and that his injuries were accidental. No charges have been laid, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
