The Brockville General Volunteer Association has launched Blankets of Kindness, a community project to bring comfort to patients in the Palliative Care Unit at Brockville General Hospital.
The association is calling on local knitters, crocheters and quilters to donate handmade blankets. The goal is to collect 100 blankets by the end of 2026.
Volunteers say blankets offer more than warmth. They are meant to provide a sense of care, security and compassion to patients and their families during difficult times.
In the past, the unit had a steady supply of handmade blankets. That supply has dropped in recent years, prompting the new campaign.
The association is also accepting donations of unused, washable yarn or fabric. The materials will be shared with community members who want to help but may not have supplies.
Donations can be dropped off at the Volunteer Office across from the hospital gift shop.
