The project is also expected to support youth programs, tournaments and rural economic growth while meeting growing demand for indoor recreation space

More than 50 community champions gathered in Kemptville last week for a breakfast update on the proposed North Grenville Sports Dome project. Organizers say the planned indoor recreation facility continues to receive strong backing from sports organizations, businesses and local leaders.

MPP Steve Clark attended the event and shared details about a recent meeting at Queen’s Park with Ontario Sports Minister Neil Lumsden.

The proposed dome would be built on vacant land at the Kemptville Campus and would become the only facility of its kind between Kingston and Ottawa. Plans include a FIFA regulation-sized artificial turf field, hard courts and a concourse for walking and running.

Municipal officials say the dome would provide year-round space for soccer, football, baseball training, pickleball, basketball, tennis and other activities. The project is also expected to support youth programs, tournaments and rural economic growth while meeting growing demand for indoor recreation space.
