The Ontario government is adding $3.9 million to the province’s snowmobile network this winter to keep trails open and support local economies.
Local MPP Steve Clark explained what the total funding will be for 2025/26.
The investment will allow the full reopening of 4,500 kilometres of trails, connecting communities and helping businesses that rely on snowmobile tourism.
The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) oversees the trail permit system and coordinates hundreds of volunteer-run clubs.
The funds will support trail maintenance, safety, and reliable access throughout the season.
Ontario’s snowmobile network spans more than 30,000 kilometres and generates up to $6 billion annually for the provincial economy.
Clark said the funding was much needed.
The government continues to work with the OFSC on a long-term plan to maintain the trail system.
The boost gives communities and snowmobilers confidence for the season while keeping Ontario’s trails world-class.
