The municipal election is set for Oct. 26
Henry Oosterhof is taking his campaign for mayor of Elizabethtown-Kitley directly to residents’ doorsteps as he looks to build on four years of experience on township council.
Oosterhof is running against Rob Smith for mayor in the Oct. 26 municipal election. He decided to seek the mayor’s seat after serving four years on council, saying he wants to continue the progress he began.
Oosterhof says his background has also given him first-hand experience with large-scale project management, innovation and fiscal responsibility.
He outlined his top priority for the township.
Oosterhof also said he wants to focus on the strategic development of municipally owned properties, such as the Rows Corners campus habitation project.
But his campaign is not limited to council chambers.
Oosterhof said he has been making a point of knocking on doors and speaking with residents in person.
He said that by listening to residents’ concerns, suggestions and advice, he believes he can better relate to those issues when they come before council, which he says would allow him to contribute more constructively to council discussions and advocate on behalf of residents.
Oosterhof has been in business in Elizabethtown-Kitley for 46 years and said he has a strong desire to see the township continue to be a great place to live, work and play for everyone.
The municipal election is set for Oct. 26.
