The OPP Forensic Identification Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshall are assisting with the investigation
The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred in the village of Elgin.
Around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, officers responded alongside the Rideau Lakes Fire Department to a blaze at an uninhabited single-family home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. A heavy police presence remains in the area as the investigation continues.
The OPP Forensic Identification Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshall are assisting with the investigation. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the scene.
Anyone with information, including dashcam or home security footage, is urged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
