An Ottawa woman is facing several charges after Ontario Provincial Police found an unsecured shotgun, ammunition, and suspected methamphetamine during a search at her home.
Police said Friday that the woman’s firearms license had been revoked for public safety reasons. Still, officers received information she had bought a shotgun illegally.
The 34-year-old turned herself in to the OPP on Thursday. Investigators believe the firearm may have been purchased in North Grenville, but the details are still under investigation.
Later, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Morningmist Way in Ottawa. Inside, they found the shotgun, which was not stored safely, along with ammo and suspected drugs.
The woman is charged with careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a Schedule I substance, and failing to comply with a probation order.
She has been released and is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville on Oct. 3.
