More than 415 young athletes are in Brockville this weekend for the Star 1-4 figure skating competition, drawing participants from 38 skating clubs stretching from the eastern Greater Toronto Area to the Quebec border.
The three-day event runs Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Organizers say the competition is expected to bring hundreds of family members and visitors to the city.
Spectators are welcome throughout the weekend. Admission is $5 at the door.
In addition to the competition, a vendor market featuring local businesses is set up on site, offering shopping opportunities for visitors between events.
Organizers say the weekend is a chance for the community to support young athletes and welcome families to Brockville for a busy and exciting competition.
