Remembered as dedicated member of her community
Prescott is mourning the loss of Councillor Ruth Lockett, who passed away on March 31 after suffering serious injuries in a fall at the Alaine Chartrand Community Centre.
Lockett, 73, fell down concrete stairs on March 22 and was placed in a coma at Ottawa Hospital’s Civic Campus. She had emergency surgery for a brain bleed but did not recover.
Her son, Shawn, shared the news on Facebook, saying she was a kind and caring person who made life better for everyone she met.
Prescott Mayor Gauri Shankar said Lockett’s passing leaves a huge void in the community. “She knew so many people and touched so many lives,” he said.
The Town of Prescott also shared condolences, calling her a remarkable person who will be greatly missed.
Lockett was known for her dedication to the community, both as a councillor and as a passionate advocate for local causes.
