A Prescott resident says he was struck in the chest by falling concrete while speaking with a supervisor near the town’s water tower demolition site.

Paul McConnell says debris has been falling since work began in June, raising safety concerns.

McConnell says falling debris also damaged a borrowed vehicle.

In an official statement from the town, demolition is expected to continue into late November after crews switched to smaller excavators to safely remove the tower’s thick concrete base.

Half the base has been demolished, with the remaining work expected to take several weeks. The tower’s stem will follow.

McConnell claims the statement is false, saying that demolition is expected to continue into December, potentially complicating winter parking arrangements.

For questions or concerns, the town says to contact EVB Engineering's Thomas Harrison by phone (613-935-3775), or email (thomas.harrison@evbengineering.com).
