Tomorrow
Community members are being urged to attend a rally in Brockville this week to support the Cooperative Care Centre as local leaders prepare to discuss a recent funding cut.
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Joint Services Committee will meet tomorrow (Nov. 4) at 9 a.m. at 25 Central Avenue West to review the issue.
Chris Wilson, former NDP candidate in the last federal election, is organizing the rally to call on the counties to restore funding.
Supporters say the centre provides vital services for vulnerable residents and that cutting its funding could leave more people at risk.
They argue that preventative supports are far less costly than emergency responses such as hospital care or policing.
Residents are encouraged to join the rally to show support for helping neighbours in need and maintaining community safety and stability.
