Anyone with information is asked to contact Brockville Police or Crime Stoppers

Brockville Police are investigating after the operator of a high-speed e-bike or dirt bike failed to stop for officers during a traffic enforcement attempt on Tuesday.

Police said the incident happened at about 9 p.m. when officers observed the vehicle travelling 86 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The rider failed to stop when police attempted a traffic stop.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle, citing public safety concerns, and the stop attempt was discontinued. Police said the identity of the rider remains unknown and the investigation is ongoing. A photo of the suspect, who was reportedly wearing grey clothing, has been released.

Police are reminding road users that failing to stop for police is a serious offence and that excessive speeds by e-bikes, dirt bikes and other vehicles can create dangerous conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Brockville Police or Crime Stoppers.
