The police service thanked phone network providers for expediting the restoration of 9-1-1 service across Ontario
An Ontario-wide 9-1-1 outage appears to be largely resolved, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
The OPP began receiving reports of intermittent 9-1-1 outages across the province at about 4 a.m. this morning.
All OPP Provincial Communications Centres are now receiving and processing 9-1-1 calls.
During the outage, people needing an emergency police response were directed to the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122, which remains operational.
The OPP says officers continued responding to calls for service throughout the temporary outage.
While the 9-1-1 system has largely been restored, the OPP says intermittent disruptions may still occur.
Anyone unable to reach police through 9-1-1 is asked to call the non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
The OPP says people should not call 9-1-1 simply to test whether the system is working.
