Municipal election races are heating up across Leeds and Grenville, but the race for mayor in Augusta Township is already over.
Incumbent Mayor Jeff Shaver has been acclaimed, allowing him to continue his work for another term.
Shaver said he is proud that after seven years of work, he and council announced in June that a $28 million school is set to be built in the township.
He also highlighted $24 million received through the Housing Enabling Waters Systems Fund, which will support work in the Riverview Heights and Merwin Lane area.
He said internet service has improved significantly, and the township has spent almost $3 million on recreation across its settlement areas over the past five years.
Shaver discussed his top priority for the next term.
He said the township has also invested in prime real estate for future growth and profitability, while working toward financial stability.
He said he plans to continue that focus on growth in the new term.

Deputy Mayor Adrian Wynands was also acclaimed, though council was not, with six challengers competing for three seats.
The municipal election is set for Monday, October 26.
