St. Lawrence College's nursing program receives accreditation from national organization

The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing certification applies to the college's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and Practical Nurse to BScN Bridge program

The nursing program at St. Lawrence College will remain in place for the next seven years.

The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing has given the college's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program a seven-year accreditation.

In a news release, SLC say this means that the program meets national standards for nursing education. This accreditation applies to the nursing program as well as their Practical Nurse to BScN Bridge program at their campuses in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall.

Interim Dean of Health, Wellness, & Community Services and Academic Operations Laralea Stalkie says this accreditation is a direct reflection of the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork shown across all groups involved in the nursing program.

The accreditation process involves a comprehensive, multi-stage review. That includes evidence to show how it meets national standards including curriculum, faculty qualifications, governance, resources, and student outcomes.

SLC says this means nursing students will continue to receive high-quality, evidence-informed education. They say the accreditation re-enforces the quality of teaching and innovation delivered by their faculty.
