The Employment and Education Centre in Brockville is helping local job seekers better understand what local employers are looking for in today’s job market.
Marketing and Communications Coordinator Kira Merritt spoke about the biggest local hiring needs right now.
She also talked about the main skills in demand.
Employers are also looking for people who can learn quickly, work independently and take initiative.
Merritt said building both technical and workplace skills is key.
She encouraged people to choose a target industry and develop the skills employers are actively seeking.
Merritt also said short certifications, including first aid, forklift training and health and safety courses, can help open more opportunities.
