Thousand Islands Secondary School’s senior girls basketball team is off to a strong start at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) tournament.
Stacey Dales, a TISS graduate and one of the most decorated athletes in the school's history, played in the WNBA and is now an NFL football commentator. She offered words of encouragement ahead of the tournament.
The Pirates dominated their first opponent, West Hill, winning 74-25 in their opening game this morning.
She gave a final message for the Pirates.
The team, champions of both LGSSAA and EOSSAA, will play their next game tomorrow at 12:30 p.m., with the opponent yet to be determined.
Support has poured in from the school community and former students. Former TISS Pirate Jeff Severson also recently donated $3,100 to help fund the team’s trip to Belleville.
With skill, determination, and strong backing, the Pirates aim to make a memorable run at OFSAA and chase provincial gold.
