Athletes from 14 UCDSB secondary schools competed at the provincial championships
Student-athletes from the Upper Canada District School Board returned home with six medals after a strong showing at the OFSAA Track and Field Championships held in St. Catharine's this past weekend.
Thousand Islands Secondary School accounted for five of the six medals earned by UCDSB competitors at the provincial event.
Isobel Orji led the way with two gold medals, winning both the junior girls 100-metre and 200-metre races. The school also captured gold in the open girls 4x400-metre relay, with Victoria Ford, Lilah Kinch, Avalea Simpson, Emma St. Pierre and Olivia St. Pierre combining for the victory.
A silver medal was added in the senior girls 4x100-metre relay by Tiawna Anderson, Ford, Orji, Emma St. Pierre and Olivia St. Pierre.
Joey Conklin earned the board’s sixth medal, taking bronze in junior boys pole vault.
