A construction site east of Merrickville has turned tragic after a worker was killed in a collision on Friday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police say the incident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Wolford Drive, near Burritts Rapids Road.
A 61-year-old worker was struck by a tractor trailer involved in the construction project. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased. Investigators say no further details are available at this time as the investigation continues.
The site remains under review by OPP and officials connected to the construction project.
Drivers in the area were urged to use caution and be prepared for delays as police conducted their investigation.
