Fire forces evacuation of Brockville apartment building
An 88-year-old woman has died following an apartment fire in north-end Brockville on Wednesday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the building on Windsor Drive around 6 p.m. on August 20. Firefighters from the Brockville Fire Department and Elizabethtown-Kitley Fire Department worked with the Brockville Police Service and Leeds Grenville Emergency Medical Services to respond to the blaze.
Two people were rushed to Brockville General Hospital with injuries. Police later confirmed one of the occupants died as a result. The other person’s condition has not been released.
The investigation is ongoing and involves the Brockville Police Service, Brockville Fire Department, the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Office of the Chief Coroner.
