Valuable hands-on experience and opportunities for scholarships and job offers
Fifty-seven students from the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) competed in the annual Skills Ontario Competition in Toronto from May 5-6.
UCDSB students earned five medals, with Rideau District High School taking home gold in LEGO Mechanical Engineering.
The competition, which saw students compete in categories such as TV/Video Production, LEGO Robotics, Green Energy, and Construction, offered students valuable hands-on experience and opportunities for scholarships and job offers.
The students earned their spot at the event by winning local competitions in Ottawa, Cornwall, and Kemptville, followed by a successful regional competition in Kingston this past April.
Top winners were celebrated for their industry-aligned skills and impressive performances in front of educators, employers, and supporters.
Among the participating UCDSB schools were Athens District High School, Brockville Collegiate Institute, and Rideau District High School.
