Upper Canada District School Board trustees met Dec. 10 to review strong gains in student achievement and to endorse a new math plan for next year.
Director of Education Ron Ferguson presented the 2024-25 Annual Report, noting the board was the only one in Ontario to see higher EQAO scores in reading, writing and math for two straight years. He credited dedicated staff and highlighted a $1.5-million investment in classroom libraries and early literacy resources.
Ferguson said graduation rates have risen for a fourth year and now exceed the board’s 90 per cent target. He pointed to alternative learning programs, SHSM pathways and updates at TR Leger School as key factors.
Trustees also heard about efforts to support student well-being, including expanded sports access and a $500,000 investment in music education.
