OPP discovered the vehicle at the ONRoute service centre, suspect remains at large
An update on the smash-and-grab at a Kingston jewelry store.
Leeds County OPP located a vehicle at the eastbound Mallorytown ONRoute service centre Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators with Kingston Police say they alerted other police services about the suspect vehicle that fled Cataraqui Centre that morning.
A person smashed display cases inside Michael Hill store then ran off towards the north entrance and into an awaiting vehicle that took off heading north.
Shortly before 2:00 p.m., an officer with the OPP Highway Safety Division spotted the unoccupied vehicle at the service centre.
A search of the surrounding area was later conducted to locate any occupants.
The investigation involved support from the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit, and OPP Forensic Identification Services, along with officers from Kingston Police.
