A 40-year-old woman from Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township has been charged in connection with a homicide investigation in Augusta Township.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers from the Grenville County detachment responded to a residence on County Road 26 shortly before 3:30 p.m. on July 8, where a person was found dead. The death was deemed a homicide.
Alison Doherty was arrested yesterday and charged with indignity to a dead body, contrary to Section 182 of the Criminal Code.
She remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Brockville before the Ontario Court of Justice today.
A publication ban is in place, limiting further information from police.
The Grenville County OPP Crime Unit is investigating with the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
