Woman's death in Spencerville ruled a homicide, OPP say

The OPP Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification Services are assisting

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the death of a 37-year-old Grenville woman as a homicide in Spencerville.

Officers with the Grenville County OPP detachment responded to a residence on Crowder Road on Saturday, Aug. 29, after a person was found deceased.

Police have identified the woman as Chelsea Swinwood, 37, of Grenville. The death has been deemed a homicide.

Investigators have yet to identify any suspects, and say they believe the incident was isolated and there are no signs of a broader threat to the community.

Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

The Grenville County OPP is leading the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. The Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are also involved.

The OPP Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification Services are assisting.
