Occurred early Friday morning
Frontenac OPP is investigating a deadly crash that happened early Friday morning on Highway 401 near Kingston.
Just before 3 a.m. on September 12, a pickup truck driving the wrong way in the westbound lanes collided head-on with a transport truck near the Highway 15 interchange.
The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene. Police have not yet confirmed the person’s identity. The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
OPP had received a report of a vehicle going the wrong way shortly before the crash.
Highway 401 westbound was closed for several hours between Highway 32 in Gananoque and Montreal Street in Kingston while officers and technical collision experts investigated. The highway reopened shortly after 1:30 p.m.
