YMCA of Eastern Ontario CEO Rob Adams said the funds will help people access programs regardless of their financial circumstances
A sold-out golf tournament featuring members of The Tragically Hip has raised $223,623 for YMCA programs and services across Eastern Ontario.
The first YMCA Community Classic was held Monday at Cataraqui Golf & Country Club in Kingston, attracting 144 golfers for a day focused on golf, community and giving back.
The money raised will help provide financial assistance for YMCA memberships and programs, summer camp access, youth recreation and leadership opportunities, and community programs.
One of those programs, Work Hard Eat Well, combines physical activity, nutritious meals, food skills and mentorship for local youth.
Gord Sinclair and Paul Langlois of The Tragically Hip also joined golfers and community partners at the event. Kingston Frontenacs general manager Kory Cooper, captain Vann Williamson and alternate captain Andre Mondoux also attended.
The YMCA thanked golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers, with Cityflats serving as the tournament’s title sponsor.
YMCA of Eastern Ontario CEO Rob Adams said the funds will help people access programs regardless of their financial circumstances.
