Several summer fundraising events are also planned
The YMCA of Eastern Ontario is entering the summer season with major upgrades underway in Brockville and strong community support for local camp programs.
The organization says newly renovated change rooms at the Brockville YMCA are now complete and already receiving positive feedback from members. Work is also increasing on the facility’s gymnasium redevelopment project.
The YMCA also announced more than $36,000 was raised during this year’s McHappy Day campaign in partnership with McDonald’s locations in Kingston and Gananoque. The funds will support the Give the Gift of Camp campaign, helping local children attend summer camp programs.
The Estate of Larry Gibson has once again committed to matching donations to the campaign up to $50,000.
YMCA officials say many families across Eastern Ontario continue to face financial pressures, making support programs more important than ever.
Several summer fundraising events are also planned, including the East Coast Summer Picnic on July 5, Hoops for Good on July 11 and the Y Communities Thrive Pickleball Tournament on July 18.
