In Prescott's Centennial Park on June 14
A wave of support is expected to hit Prescott's Centennial Park on June 14, as participants gather for the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS.
The annual event brings together local families, friends, and supporters to raise money and awareness for those living with ALS.
Jennifer and Danielle Sargeant are helping put it together. Their father passed away from the disease in June of 2023.
Jennifer speaks to the number of cases diagnosed.
Two of those are in Prescott.
This year’s walk aims to help fund critical research and offer support services like medical equipment, home visits, and peer support groups across Ontario.
Danielle says those fighting the disease in the area will be taking part.
They hope to surpass last year's total of $5,000.
Money raised will go directly to the ALS Canada Research Program, the only national fund dedicated to ALS research in Canada.
