What's Good in Brockville and area? Athens Grand Parade raises thousands for local seniors programs

$15,949 raised

The 2025 Grand Parade brought music, colour and community spirit to downtown Athens this past Saturday as walkers, volunteers and families gathered to support seniors programs.

Senior Support Services L.L.G. led the event for the second year, drawing dozens of walkers, more than a dozen teams and plenty of local support.

By parade day, donations had climbed to more than $15,000, about three-quarters of the $20,000 goal.

Community Relations Officer Sarah Dodgson said contributions surged in just a few days.

She explained where the funds raised will end up.

The day began with check-in at 10 a.m., opening remarks at 10:45 and a lively send-off at 11.

Walkers enjoyed snacks at rest stops before returning for a light meal at noon, wrapping up with a thank-you at 1 p.m.
