What's Good in Brockville and Area? Paramedics' golf tournament returns to support mental health causes

Tournament spots are limited

The 8th Annual Leeds Grenville Paramedic Charity Golf Tournament will tee off August 18 at the Prescott Golf Club.

In conversation with myFM’s Wendy Wright, organizer and local paramedic Scott Speer explained how the tournament began.

The fundraiser has grown into a full 18-hole tournament that attracts about 36 teams each year.

Speer also shared what continues to motivate him to organize the annual event.

In addition to the golf, Speer said participants can look forward to several activities taking place throughout the day.

The tournament is scheduled for a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Over the past eight years, the tournament has primarily supported mental health organizations and has even helped cover the cost of a local funeral. Speer said the event has raised about $10,000 since it began.

Tournament spots are limited. Anyone interested in registering can email speer_scott@hotmail.com or complete the online registration from here:
