What's Good in Brockville and area? Teen piano prodigy to perform rare Maitland concert in support of historic church

Organizers say this concert marks the start of a new community music series at St. James

A 14-year-old piano virtuoso is set to dazzle audiences at St. James Anglican Church in Maitland later this month.

Muyang Li will perform a fundraising concert on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m., in partnership with Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa.

The event supports youth in the arts and helps preserve the nearly 200-year-old church.

Organizer Sarah Jane Dumbrille explained Li’s list of honours is impressive for someone his age.

The Waterloo-born pianist has earned national and international awards, including the RCM National Gold Medal and top prizes from Canadian and global competitions.

Dumbrille said the multi-faceted young talent has already made more than 100 public appearances.

She says it could be something audiences look back on proudly, having seen Muyang Li perform in Maitland before his career really took off.

Organizers say this concert marks the start of a new community music series at St. James.

Tickets remain available on eventbrite.ca.
